Croatian karateka Anđelo Kvesić secured a match for the European Champion title in the +84 kg category on home soil. At the European Senior Karate and Para-Karate Championships in Zadar 2024, Anđelo achieved four victories, securing Croatia’s first medal at the Championships.
In the first round, he won against the Norwegian karateka Ismail Bellemkhannatea with 6:0. Then, based on the first point scored (senshu), he defeated German Nikolai Sekota (2:2). In the quarterfinal match, he triumphed over Turkish competitor Kadir Furkan Genc with a score of 8:1. Against a strong opponent in the semifinal, Anes Bostandžić (BIH), Anđelo won with a score of 2:1, with a turnaround in the last few seconds of the match.
The final of the +84 kg category is scheduled for Saturday, 11 May at 12:08 according to the preliminary schedule, and Anđelo’s opponent will be Italian Matteo Avanzini.
