Croatia is a Central European and Mediterranean country where you will quickly spot the scent of both cultural influences. It has an unusual shape; some say it is similar to a croissant, while others see a dragon, which makes it unlike any other country in the world. Croatia is bordering Slovenia and Hungary to the north, Serbia to the east, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro to the southeast, and has a long maritime border with Italy in the Adriatic Sea. Croatia is one of the most famous and known European countries for your summer vacation, where visitors are falling in love both with the coast and the sea.
The Capital of Croatia is Zagreb – a modern metropolis, the country’s scientific, economic, political, and administrative center, sometimes called Little Vienna because of its rich history and culture. Zagreb is also the main population center with approximately 800.000 inhabitants. Other bigger or well-known cities are Osijek, Rijeka, Split, Dubrovnik, Zadar, Šibenik, Opatija, Rovinj, and Poreč.
Croatia is the 123rd country globally by its size, but even though small, you can still be amazed by the number of its surprises. Croatia has as many as 1246 islands, isles, and islets for you to sail through, and in many ways, it is full of natural wonders. Almost 10% of Croatia consists of 11 nature parks, 8 national parks and 2 nature reserves. It has the best sunsets in the world (at least according to Alfred Hitchcock), and it boasts the highest number of UNESCO Intangible Goods in Europe. Croatia’s Dubrovnik is a real Game of Thrones Kings Landing, thanks to Croats who invented a tie, you look so good in a suit, and because of Croatia’s Slavoljub Penkala who invented a mechanical pencil, today we write with pens.
There are so many wonders Croatia ad its people have to offer, and if this is your first time visiting Croatia, we can promise you that you will not want it to be the last.
