Sensational Ema Sgardelli qualified for the European Championships final

Croatian athlete Ema Sgardelli has secured her spot in the gold medal match in the -50 kg category at the European Senior Karate and Para-Karate Championships Zadar 2024. She has recorded three victories today.

In the second round, she defeated Turkish competitor Selva Nur Akkurt Kucukoglu with a score of 7:2, and then won against the French athlete Tiphaine Bonnarde with 2:1. In the semifinal match, Ema emerged victorious with a score of 4:1 against Ukrainian Yuliia Palashevska.

In the final match, scheduled for Saturday, 11 May at 6:33 PM according to the preliminary schedule, Ema’s opponent will be representative of North Macedonia, Mihaela Mishovska. Ema won the European U21 bronze medal this year already, and the medal from the senior European Championships is the highlight of her career. This is also the third final secured by Croatian athletes at the European Championships in Zadar, after Angelo Kvesić (+84 kg) and Ivan Martinac (-75 kg) advanced to the final.
